Mail Art!: Naval Orange

A friend of mine, Jesse, joined the navy and I've been trying to send him as much mail as I can while he's in training.
We are really proud of him.

You guys like FASHION?

... well, I do from time to time.
Ok, a lot of the time.
I do work for a fancy- fancy Canadian shoe designer after all.
Not to brag (but I pretty much am) but I was killing it last Friday with my "Fuck Yes Fall" outfit.
I re-rocked my purple hair and combined with my Marc Jacobs button down and Uniqlo tailored pants, I was looking fflllyyy. Fluevogs did accompany the outfit, of course!
I haven't been this in love with myself for a little while.

By the way, Marc Jacobs has a make-up line at Sephora now and I've gone crazy on that as well.

Thanks for letting me banter.

Mail Art!: Brian Connolly is the BEST!

Holy shit! I just got the mother load of amazing mail art! This guys penpalship is bonkers!

I’ve been sending mail art to Boston-based artist and amazing cartoon creator Brian Connolly because he’s a cool-ass MassArt dude and I love his work. Seriously, he’s fucking rad. I’m hoping to hang with him soon when I visit Boston next.
He sent me a zine of his comic Nothing Mattress, which you can read on the Boston Dig website, and some original art! I am blown away by his coolness!
Thank you Brian! Keep your eyes peeled for more junk from me.
Check out his work:

I made him this thank you postcard:

Let's All Worship San Burrito!

San Buttiro card for my bestie Kate!
Watercolor on paper with sequins and glitter paint.

Mail Art!: Squid Letter

I love this girl! Sending you something soon, buddy!

Mail Art!: Willy & Emily Eddy, my Seattle Beasties!

I have some great friends from MassArt. Some I met while I was there, and some I met after.
Willy and his lovely lady Emily live in Seattle and they have agreed to be my mail art pen pals,
and I couldn't be more thrilled!

Look what they sent me:

It got a little rained on, but it's beautiful!
Willy and Emily also do this fucked crazy fun, and beautifully brilliant camp called CASCADE in the mountains of Washington.
I always want to go but can't really afford to get out there
(not the camp, but the plane tickets... damn you blood sucking airlines!).
BUT if YOU are living in the North West and you consider yourself a fucking rad individual or a creative love bug, then sign up!
They have the program annually, and it couldn't be organized by any other wonderful people like them.
I wuv them.

Thanks guys! You're getting more junk in the mail, just wait!

I'VE BEEN BUSY! (the Postcrossing edition)

Hey everyone... I've been pretty neglectful but I have good reason!
I just had Pete move in and the apartment has been a reck. We changed my room into a dual studio room and the other bedroom (previously occupied by my dill weed bro-dude housemate) into our bedroom.
Ah, yes! I'm quite the domesticated cat now.

Everything is (somewhat) back to normal and I can actually sit at my desk again. Get ready for some solid posts! And to get us started...

I just recently signed up for this cool pen pal sight called Postcrossing
The whole idea behind it is that you connect to people all over the world through sending them postcards. My initial intent was to create mail art postcards to send off, but some members who you may be assigned to have specific requests of what type of mail they would like to receive.
For example: a member from China may be a 17 year old girl who signed up to learn about different countries or practice her English, so under her profile she might request postcards that define my culture or where I am from, i.e. New York City.
So, I've been honoring these requests... but put a little spin on a couple of them. Here are the first 5 postcards I've sent out so far:

I got them all at the MoMA after checking out the Claes Oldenburg exhibit. As you can tell, I put a little artistic flare with my letter press.

I've received 3 postcards from different countries so far!

from Nan in China
from Kristin in Germany (my father land)

And because in my profile I requested mail art, I got...
...this beautiful piece from Wilma in the Netherlands!
I love it so!
